Mountjoy Chilton Medley, Kentucky’s largest home-based accounting firm, and Hawkins Company CPAs, a Louisville firm that specializes in providing assurance, tax, internal audit, information systems, compliance and regulatory-related consulting services to regional financial institutions, are merging. The combined firm will retain the Mountjoy Chilton Medley name.
The move, effective July 16, 2010, will greatly enhance Mountjoy Chilton Medley’s expertise in the financial institution industry, said Mike Mountjoy, co-managing partner.
“Hawkins Company is a recognized leader in providing consulting, information technology, audit and tax services to community banks,” Mountjoy said. “This merger will give our clients direct access to nearly a dozen top, seasoned banking professionals with expertise in internet banking, regulatory reporting and compliance, interest rate risk, ACH [Automatic Clearing House] transactions and wire transfers.”
Henry Hawkins, founding member and managing partner of Hawkins Company LLC and Kentucky Society of CPAs Banking Committee chair, said the merger will enable the firm to enhance its current team growth and industry expertise with the state’s most prominent CPA firm to become the leading service provider in this industry.
“Mountjoy Chilton Medley’s statewide presence and outstanding reputation made this merger the right move for our firm,” he said. “Kentucky and its neighboring states are home to many strong community banks that are actual or potential clients.”
Co-managing partner Diane Medley said the merger is part of the firm’s strategic plan to provide a full range of services to the state’s financial institutions market.
“We continue to be committed to serving Kentucky-based businesses. We’re in a growth mode, but not just growth for growth’s sake,” she said. “We’re growing strategically, reinforcing our strengths, adding new services and expanding our existing services. It’s all about enhancing service to our clients and bringing them as much value as possible.”
This merger brings Mountjoy Chilton Medley’s employee count to approximately 240 and the number of CPAs to over 130. The firm has offices in Louisville, Lexington, Covington, Frankfort and Bowling Green.
Hawkins Company CPAs LLC was formed in August 2005. Hawkins was formerly with Deloitte & Touche’s Louisville office and another local CPA Firm. The firm has 15 employees.
